Dr Janice Scealy


PhD in Statistics, The Australian National University awarded on 01/2011. Thesis title: Modelling Techniques for Compositional Data Using Distributions Defined on the Hypersphere. Supervisor: Prof Alan Welsh.

Bachelor of Mathematics degree with first class honours in Statistics, University of Wollongong awarded on 12/2003.


Dr Janice Scealy teaches Statistics in the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics. She has an honours degree and PhD in Statistics and is a member of the Statistical Society of Australia and the American Statistical Association. Prior to academia Janice worked as a statistician at the Australian Bureau of Statistics. 

Janice has researched and published on a wide range of statistical topics in the areas of compositional data analysis, directional statistics, statistics for manifold valued data, analysis of sample survey data and model selection in linear mixed models. She is also interested in robust methods and the analysis of spatial data.
