Dr Gen Nowak teaches statistics and is the program convenor for the Master of Statistics, Master of Actuarial Studies, and Master of Actuarial Practice programs in the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics.

Prior to joining the ANU, Gen completed his PhD in Statistics at Stanford University and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health.  His research focuses on developing and applying statistical methodologies to answer questions in key areas of scientific research such as genomics and climate change.

In addition to teaching courses in statistics, Gen also supervises Honours and PhD students and has supervised research projects on topics such as spatio-temporal analysis and penalised regression.
