  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Statistics from The Australian National Univeristy, Australia, 2020 (expected)
  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) with First Class Honours in Statistics, The University of Auckland, New Zealand, 2015
  • Bachelor of Arts (Statistics major, Sociology minor), The University of Auckland, New Zealand, 2014

Swen always have had interest in the study of relationships between people and patterns in societies. The combination of a statistics major and sociology minor in her Bachelor's degree was an uncommon choice among her peers. This unique combination led her to working on her Honours dissertation looking at socio-economic status and mortality risks, using siblings in the comparison. The dissertation was a joint work between the Statistics department and COMPASS (Centre of Methods and Policy Application in the Social Sciences), a research centre that is based in the University of Auckland.

Swen is currently a doctoral student at ANU focusing on quantification of latent socio-economic health for countries. The relevant methodology involves integrating latent variable modeling with causal modeling by using Bayesian methods and inference.
