INVESTING IN TOMORROW'S FINANCIAL LEADERS

Students in the ANU Student Managed Fund take responsibility for over $0.6 million worth of investments, reflecting donations made to the University with the intent that the funds be managed by students and are used to support philanthropic activities. The course provides students with a unique opportunity for deep ‘activity-based’ learning, with the purpose of funding a scholarship for disadvantaged students. The primary task of students is to make investment recommendations to be reviewed and endorsed by an Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) which includes top industry practitioners. They are mentored by two Convenors who are ANU staff members. Students also undertake the day-to-day functions of a professionally managed fund, providing a hands-on introduction to the investment industry and counted as a fully accredited University course.

The ANU SMF is incredibly proud to announce the finalisation of our Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Policy which will form the cornerstone of our stock selection and portfolio construction moving forward.

While the SMF has been complying with the ANU SRI Policy, the new SMF SRI Policy goes further by aiming to imbed additional SRI considerations into each stage of our investment processes. This includes undertaking deep SRI analysis of potential investments, and ensuring that our portfolio reflects the SMF’s investment beliefs and values.
